Hot Springs Cove Sea Kayaking Tours
Nature's Spa Tour 6 day/ 5 Night Sea Kayaking Tour

Hot Springs Cove
Our
destination for this tour is Hot Springs Cove , nature's spa. We will make our way to
the hot springs through the heart of Clayoquot Sound. The beautiful blue
of the mountains and the green of the forests is a breathtaking sight as
you paddle through the channels and islands. You will have ample
opportunity to explore the abundant sea life. The hot springs are
located in Maquinna Provincial Park at the north end of Clayoqout Sound.
The boiling water cascades down through the rocks creating pools of
water that are cooled by the ocean surf. You will spend time thoroughly
soaking in the pools. The trail leading to the hot springs leads you
along a boardwalk through the old growth rain forest. It is
spectacular!!

Orientation:
On the evening before your
tour we will treat you to coffee or tea and go over any last minute trip
details and answer any questions you may have. This will be very brief
so you have your evening to complete
your trip preparations or to enjoy exploring Tofino.
Day 1
We will meet at
the public dock with hot coffee waiting and begin packing the boats.
Once we are packed we will adjust the boats to your personal needs, have
an introductory paddling lesson and a safety talk. Once we launch we
will begin the first leg of your journey to Hot Springs Cove. We will
paddle to our first night's destination and set up camp. You should have
time to enjoy the sandy beaches and explore the headlands and tidal
pools before supper. Watch the amazing sunset while warming yourself
around the driftwood fire before turning in for the night.

Day 2
After a nourishing
breakfast we will break camp and prepare for the next phase of our journey.
Our paddle today will take us past Marktosis, a local native village and
into the inner passage around Flores Island. We will stop and enjoy lunch
along the way. The water is very calm in this area as the islands are very
close together. You will get a real sense of exploration as we paddle
through the channels with mountains and forests rising all around you. The
water is so clear you can see starfish and anemones as well as a variety of
muscles, clams and oysters. We will paddle through large bull kelp beds with
their streaming tails glistening in the sun.

Day 3
Today we will continue our
exploration of the pristine waters as we get closer to our destination. We
will make our way to the beaches on the north east side of Flores
Island. Arriving at our next camp site early in the day will help us to
avoid the prevailing winds. We will also have the option of exploring new
territory should the group decide they are interested. We have enough time
to be flexible with our schedule.

Day 4
A light yoga stretch first thing this
morning will help get the day started and help get you ready for more
paddling.
A hearty breakfast will give you plenty of energy. Today we will continue
our paddle through the islands, exploring the waterways and straits that
lead us to the Hot Springs. By day four you will have developed your
paddling skills and your paddling muscles so our three to four hour paddle
will seem easy! At camp you will enjoy a delicious meal, some great
fellowship and a warm fire. A cozy bed awaits you after a good day's paddle.
Meals B,L,D
Day 5
Our camp on day4 and 5 is right across
from Hot Springs Cove. After a healthy
breakfast we will pack up our
swimming trunks and paddle across the channel to get to Hot Springs Cove. We
will intercept the boardwalk to the hot springs and make our way to the
rocky pools. Spending a few hours soaking in the heat and minerals of the
hot springs will definitely work out any kinks or aching muscles you may
have from our journey. We will have lunch on the rocks overlooking the ocean
before we head back to camp. This will be our last night out. You may want
to do a little fishing from the headlands or go for a short hike to explore.
You will be amazed at the huge challenge and accomplishment of paddling this
far under your own steam.
Meals B,L,D
Day 6
Up early for breakfast, getting
packed and on our way into the Cove to catch the water taxi will be our goal
for this morning. The seas are much calmer early in the day for paddling
around the point into Hot Springs Cove. We hope to get to Tofino with enough
time to meet your travel arrangements.
